Road Closure on Virginia Drive in Orlando

Orlando – The Florida Department of Transportation today announced that Virginia Drive in Orlando will be closed at the railroad crossing in both directions from 9 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2016 to 3 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2016.  The closure is needed to install new concrete panels and new asphalt approaches at the railroad crossing to provide a smoother ride for motorists.

Detour signs will be placed at key locations along area roads to direct drivers around the work zone.

Detour Information:

-Traffic traveling west on Virginia Drive will be directed to take a left onto Alden Road, then a right or left turn onto North Orange Avenue.

-Traffic traveling north on North Orange Avenue will be directed onto Alden Road and then turn right onto Virginia Drive.

-Traffic traveling south on North Orange Avenue will be directed to pass Virginia Drive, turn left onto Alden Road and then turn right onto Virginia Drive.

Motorists are advised to plan for extra travel time during this temporary closure. Please note that this schedule may change due to bad weather or other unexpected conditions.
 
Around railroad tracks, please be smart and stay safe. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to use caution, obey all railroad and traffic signals, and look both ways before approaching a railroad crossing and when accessing SunRail platforms.
