Vine Street In Kissimmee Closed At Railroad Crossing – Part Of SunRail Phase II South Work, Saturday Night, Sunday and Early Monday

Osceola County – SunRail-related work this coming weekend will involve a closure and detour of a major thoroughfare in the Kissimmee area. Vine Street (U.S. 192) will be closed in both directions at the railroad crossing east of Main Street, between Smith Street and Ross Avenue from 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, to approximately 3 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, to replace the crossing.

Traffic will be directed around the closure. The posted detour route is as follows:

  • Motorists traveling east on Vine Street will be directed to turn left onto Main Street, then right onto Osceola Parkway and right onto Michigan Avenue back to Vine Street.
  • Motorists traveling west on Vine Street will be directed to turn right into Michigan Avenue, left onto Osceola Parkway, left onto Main Street and back to Vine Street.

Local traffic access to all businesses and side streets along Vine Street will be maintained. Detour signs will be placed throughout the area to direct drivers.

The closure is needed as part of SunRail’s Phase II South extension project, which will add approximately 17.2 miles of new rail line between the Sand Lake Road Station in Orange County and the Poinciana Station in Osceola County. The project also involves double-tracking most of the corridor and improving grade crossings.

Please note that schedules may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Updates are available at www.cflroads.com.

Please drive carefully, especially in and around construction zones. Also, be careful around railroad tracks. Be smart. Be Safe.
