Reloadable SunCards are the better way to go for frequent riders. SunCards have a one-time cost of $5 and can carry both a pass as well as hold Prepaid Value.
All SunCard orders through the website and mobile app are fulfilled Monday – Friday (excluding holidays) at our local Operations Center in Sanford. Please allow 7 business days from the date of your order to receive your SunCard by first-class mail.
If you need your SunCard sooner, you can purchase one at any SunRail station ticket vending machine. Please be aware SunCards purchased at a ticket vending machine must be registered with SunRail to qualify for balance protection should the card be lost, stolen, or damaged. Without balance protection, fares cannot be claimed, recovered, or transferred to a replacement SunCard. Click here to register.
SunCards ordered through the website and mobile app are fulfilled at SunRail’s operations center and sent via US mail. Please allow up to 7 business days to receive your new card.

Reduced Fares
Seniors 65 and over, youth between the ages of 7-18, qualify for a 50% discount off of their fare. Persons with disabilities, regardless of age are eligible for a 50% discounted fare.
Upon request by a SunRail Fare Inspector, seniors and youth must show proof of age such as a drivers’ license, passport, Student ID or State ID card upon request by the onboard conductor. A LYNX or Votran Youth ID may also be used.
Additionally, children age 6 and under ride for free with a paying adult (limit 3 per adult).
PREPAID VALUE OPTION
Prepaid value allows you to place up to $270 onto your SunCard to pay one-way fares. Similiar to a debit card, your fare is deducted based on the distance traveled each time you board the train.
Passengers who use prepaid value receive a 10% bonus each time funds are loaded onto their SunCard. As well, additional discounts apply for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and youth between the ages of 7-18.

Using Your SunCard
Boarding
Before boarding the train, scan your SunCard by tapping it at one of the multiple Ticket Validators on each station platform.
Arrival
Upon getting off the train, be sure to scan your SunCard again by tapping it at a Ticket Validator at your arriving station. This will ensure you are charged the proper fare amount.
Manage
SunCard holders may check their balance and reload their SunCards at any of the Ticket Vending Machines or online 24/7 at account.SunRail.com.
